Skeffa: I am honored to perform at SSS eviction

Music lovers in Lilongwe will tomorrow have the privilege to taste a performance of some of the hits in Skeffa Chimoto’s new album Chikondi.

Chimoto said he will be performing at the third eviction show of the Sunbird Search for a Star (SSS) at Sunbird Capital tomorrow and he will carry with him some songs from the new album to give the audience a live touch of the hits.

“I am honoured to be recognised to perform at SSS eviction and by public demand, I will perform some of the songs from my new album. I prepared to perform only songs from my previous hits but after people learnt that I will be guest artist at the show, they have already started asking me to consider performing one or two songs from the album. I do what my fans ask me and I will try to perform some songs,” said the artist.

The most anticipated hit will be Chinamuluma Chokuda, a romantic and poetic song that is also enjoying massive air play on most local radio stations.

“I would love to perform with the whole band but the setup of the show does not allow that. I will still give the audience the real touch of my songs,” said Chimoto, adding that he is done with preparations for the show.

Sunbird PRO Akossa Mphepo said they are taking advantage of the eviction shows to bring to the patrons some of the best artists in the country.

“We are continuing to change. We had Maskal during the last eviction and this week we have invited Skeffa. We will also have a different artist during the next eviction in Blantyre. Our goal is to help the public watch the best artists at a cheaper cost while enjoying the talent from the contestants in SSS competition,” said Mphepo.

According to Felix Njawala of E-Wallet, 13 contestants will perform during the eviction show and four will be evicted.

Meanwhile organisers of the competition have said the contestants will go in camp tomorrow where they will be drilled for two days before taking to stage on Saturday evening. SSS started on October 5 with 22 contestants and ends on December 14 with the winner cutting home half a million and K300 000 (US$750) and K200 000 (US$500) going to second and third finalists respectively.
